Scooter’s Coffee runs its menu through a drive-thru kiosk built for speed. Lattes, blenders and a Dollar Delights coffee line all stack around one signature drink. Caramelicious anchors the board today. A barista’s suggestion back in 1998 turned it into the chain’s calling card, sold hot, iced or blended.
Newsweek readers ranked Scooter’s Coffee the No. 1 Best Coffee Chain in the outlet’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards, ahead of nineteen other coffee chains nationwide. More than 900 locations now operate across 32 states. Scooter’s Coffee’s own path, from that first Nebraska kiosk to today’s footprint, fills the section below.
Scooter’s Coffee History
Don and Linda Eckles opened the first Scooter’s Coffee in Bellevue, Nebraska, in 1998. They built a small drive-thru kiosk rather than a sit-down cafe. Caramelicious debuted that same fall, created at a barista’s suggestion. It grew into the chain’s signature drink, sold hot, iced or blended.
Franchising carried the format beyond Nebraska. Nearly every Scooter’s Coffee today belongs to a local operator. McCarthy Capital, an Omaha-based private-equity firm, bought a stake in the business in 2018, though Don and Linda Eckles remain its owners. Bankers were reported in 2025 exploring a possible sale valuing Scooter’s Coffee near a billion dollars.
Growth has stayed steady since. Scooter’s Coffee passed 900 locations across 32 states by the company’s own February 2026 count. That growth still runs through the same small-footprint, drive-thru-first kiosk the Eckles opened in 1998. Newsweek readers then named it the No. 1 Best Coffee Chain in its 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Scooter’s Coffee Menus & Details
Four pages carry the detail below. Each one covers the priced board, the off-menu drinks, the allergen chart or the current fall lineup.
Scooter’s Coffee Menu Prices
Coffee, blenders, smoothies and food fill nine sections on the priced board. Most drinks run from Small through Extra Large. The Scooter’s Coffee Menu Prices page adds a price and calorie count for every item that carries one.
Scooter’s Coffee Secret Menu
Regulars order a dozen off-menu drinks by describing the build at the window. The Cookie Blender and the Hot Irishman are two of the better-known requests. The Scooter’s Coffee Secret Menu covers each one and how to order it.
Scooter’s Coffee Allergen Menu
Scooter’s Coffee publishes its own allergen chart across the full drink and food lineup, item by item. The Scooter’s Coffee Allergen Menu breaks down exactly what each one declares.
Scooter’s Coffee Fall Menu
Maple, caramel apple and pumpkin flavors returned to the board on August 13, 2026. A sugar-free pumpkin option is running for the first time this year. The Scooter’s Coffee Fall Menu covers what each seasonal item contains and whether it is new or returning.
