Wingstop

Wingstop cooks classic and boneless wings to order, then hand-tosses each batch in one of a dozen core flavors. Lemon Pepper, Mango Habanero and Atomic sit on a flavor lineup that runs from dry rubs to wet sauces.

Tenders, a chicken sandwich, seasoned fries and Louisiana Voodoo Fries round out a menu built around the fryer. More than 3,255 restaurants now carry the name across the United States and dozens of countries. Independent franchisees run almost all of them, rather than the company itself.

Wingstop’s own history, from a single Garland, Texas storefront to today’s publicly traded chain, fills the section below.

Wingstop History

Wings cooked to order set the format from the start. Antonio Swad and Bernadette Fiaschetti opened the first Wingstop in Garland, Texas, in 1994, with wings fried fresh rather than held under a heat lamp. Classic bone-in wings came first. A rotating lineup of dry rubs and wet sauces followed, and franchising began in 1997.

Gemini Investors bought the chain in 2003. Roark Capital Group followed with its own acquisition in 2010, then took Wingstop public on NASDAQ under the ticker WING on June 12, 2015. Shares priced at 19 dollars. Roark kept a majority stake through the offering, and independent franchisees now run about 98 percent of the system.

Wingstop now trades from 3,255 restaurants worldwide. Roughly 2,728 sit in the United States across 47 states, another 527 trade internationally, and 102 opened in a single quarter of 2026. Michael J. Skipworth leads the company as president and CEO from Dallas, Texas. Digital orders reached 73.2 percent of system-wide sales in a recent quarter.
