The short version
MenuQuill is a reference site. You can read every page of it without telling me anything about yourself. There are no analytics, no advertising networks and no tracking pixels anywhere on this site. The only place I collect personal information is the contact form, and only because a message needs somewhere to send the reply.
What I don’t collect
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no third-party measurement script and no heatmap or session-recording tool on any page.
- No advertising. No ad network, no retargeting, no affiliate tracking.
- No tracking pixels. Nothing from a social network, and no invisible images reporting that you were here.
- No third-party fonts. Fonts are served from menuquill.com itself, so reading a page does not tell a font provider you visited.
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for, so there are no profiles, passwords or reading histories.
- No comments. Pages here do not accept comments, so there is nothing to moderate or store.
The one form that does collect data
The form on the contact page asks for your name, your email address, a subject and your message. What you send is emailed to me and recorded by the site so a message cannot be lost silently. That is the whole purpose of it: to read what you sent and reply to you.
I use it only to answer you and, when you are reporting a price, to re-check the page you are writing about. There is no mailing list to add you to, and I do not sell, rent or share what you send. Please do not put anything sensitive in the message box — it is a contact form, not a secure channel.
Who processes it
MenuQuill is a WordPress site hosted by Hostinger. Anything you submit is handled by WordPress on Hostinger’s servers, is stored there, and reaches me by email. Hostinger is the hosting provider and processes that data on my behalf under its own terms.
Like every web server, Hostinger keeps standard access logs: the requesting IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser’s user-agent string. Those logs are generated by the server for security and troubleshooting rather than by anything I have added to the page, and I do not use them to build a picture of individual readers.
Cookies
I don’t set any cookie to follow you, measure you or advertise to you. It would be dishonest, though, to claim the site is cookie-free.
- WordPress may set functional cookies — for example when a form is submitted, or when someone with a login is signed in to the site.
- The caching layer that serves pages quickly may set a functional cookie so it can work out which cached version of a page to give you.
- Security and anti-spam checks on the contact form may set a short-lived cookie at the moment you submit it.
These are functional: they exist to serve the page and to process a submission, not to profile you. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and the site will still work — the contact form is the one part that may misbehave without them.
How long things are kept
Contact-form messages stay in my inbox and in the site’s records while a conversation is live and for a while afterwards, so I have the context if you write again about the same page. I clear out messages that no longer serve a purpose, as a rule within about twelve months. Server access logs are kept by the host on its own rolling schedule and age out on their own.
Your choices and how to ask for deletion
You can ask what I hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email asksophiateam@gmail.com from the address you wrote in with and say what you would like. There is no form to fill in and no fee, and I will confirm when it is done — normally well inside thirty days.
Because I collect so little, deletion is usually just deleting the message thread. There is no profile sitting behind it to remove.
Children
MenuQuill is a general-interest reference site and is not directed at children. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent me something, write to me and I will delete it.
Links to other sites
Menu pages link out to restaurants’ own websites and nutrition documents so you can check a figure at the source. Those sites have their own privacy policies and their own trackers, and this policy stops at the edge of menuquill.com.
Changes to this policy
If what I collect ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. I’m not going to quietly add analytics and leave this page saying otherwise.
